As the leaves start to fall every year, it becomes the time for quality bands to start making their way to the Midwest. There are a few in particular that I will be making the trip to check out.
Of course mostly everyone has heard of the November 16th concert at the Center with Buckcherry, Shinedown, A7X and Saving Abel. I bought tickets for me and a couple of my friends right away, mostly for Shinedown, but the other 3 would be cool to see as well. And of course to my just concern, the tickets I got through Ticketmaster say Buckcherry with Avenged Sevenfold, no Shinedown. I would think that Shinedown would be mentioned on the ticket considering they’ve spent more time in the light and, to me, they’re the better or best on the bill. However, I do put Buckcherry on the top for obvious reasons. I’m not sure right now of the order for that night, but I would assume it to be Saving Abel, A7X, Shinedown and then Buckcherry. We shall see.
The other concert I will be heading to shortly, October 20th, will be one for the memories as I don’t believe I will ever see this kind of bill anytime soon again. The concert will feature Kamelot with Edguy and Avian at Station 4 in St. Paul. Now if you have this puzzled look on your face and say “who?” then you are missing out on some of the greatest underground metal bands out there my friend. Kamelot is upon my favorite and on most days are my favorite band. The 5 man lineup, who were formed in the U.S., is composed of amazing musicians, headed by the one and only Roy Khan. Khan is an opera singer turned metal, and his voice will give you chills on every note. After 10 album releases, they have stayed as strong to their style as they did on their 1st album, and they’re getting better on every release. Their live concerts can also be argued as better performances than on their albums. Anyways, I won’t go too much into their history since it’s basically pointless for me to persuade you to listen to them, you truly have to hear their music to get into them.
Edguy is the other band that will be amazing to see live. Edguy is headed by well known singer, songwriter, bassist, keyboardist Tobias Sammet, who is also known for his work with Avantasia. Check out the links to get some background on these guys and listen to some samples.
Station 4 is a small venue in downtown St. Paul that is attracting more and more metal bands to the area. It has a long, narrow concert hall, but the sound is pretty good and it’s always exciting to be close to the stage with your favorite bands playing.
So, those are the 2 concerts I will be heading for in the coming months. If you know of any other concerts in the area that will be a pretty good show, leave me a comment to this post and I might see you there.
Rock,
BC
