The Temptation Within

It’s been a while since I last introduced new music, so I find a Friday afternoon the best time to do so.  I’m sure most of you know of bands that you’ve heard of, but not really researched enough to buy their albums.  You just heard of them a few times on the radio or you heard that a friend of your friend’s was a big fan of this band.  But how often do you actually do the research on this band enough so that you buy their albums and become one of your favorite bands?  It happens very rarely I might add.

I remember listening to a band about a year or two ago that I really like.  However, I only heard a few songs of theirs off of their MySpace page.  I tried to buy their albums on iTunes, but they were no where to be found, as of a couple years ago.  Best Buy or Target were out of the question if iTunes didn’t have it, so I didn’t even bother with trying to find it in store.  Time past and I kind of forgot about them.  Every now and then I went to their MySpace page, but there was never anything new song wise.  But over the weekend, I ran across their albums and was able to buy them.  The best find and decision to buy I have made this year.

Instead of just blurting out their name and lecturing why they’re awesome, I’ll describe who they’re like first so you get pulled in.  This band can be classified as a related band of Evanescence.  However, they are more well-rounded instrumentally wise.  They also have a female vocalist, however she has a much better voice than Amy Lee of Evanescence.  And I like Amy Lee’s voice!  The songs are also written better, form wise and lyrically wise.  Evanescence lyrics are a little dark, but who doesn’t like that?  However, this band plays for purpose and meaning, more than just writing songs to clear their minds.  No implications towards Evanescence with that.  As far as the research I have done, most of their songs have to do with anti-war.  My first impression wasn’t really thrilled about that, but their music justifies whatever thoughts or bias I have towards that meaning.  Since Sunday, when I bought their most recent two albums, I have not put them down.  All of their songs have a different feel to them.  Lyrics are solid on…well ALL songs!  Guitar work, choir backgrounds, lead vocals, they’re all priceless when they’re in your head.

Like I said before, I knew of this band, but I never looked into them for the longest time.  But after I did, they turned into one of my favorite bands that I hope will stick in my music collection for many years. From this, that is all I can do to publicize this band to you.
I give you Within Temptation…
